Kendrea Mekkah has been featured in The Charlotte Observer, Greensboro News & Record and Creative Loafing. She has had magazine profiles in Sotac (Winter 04) and Skirt Magazine (June 2005 Charlotte's Powerful Women Issue). She has had art and poems published in Thrift Poetic Arts Journal Vol 2 Issue 2, the 2006 National Poetry Slam Anthology and her book The Beautiful Medusaa book of poetry with notes on feminism and mythology. Kendrea Mekkah has also contributed poems to a number of theatrical presentations some of which are mentioned above. The most recent stage adaptation of her writing can be seen in "Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.)" (2008) written and produced with her artistic family, Concrete Generation, NC. In 2010 she has contributed writing and starred in the movie "Asphalt Revolution; The Vandals of Verse" a soon to be released, mockumentary on slam poetry. |
