Kendrea Mekkah is a Guyana born, Brooklyn raised poet, performer and creative professional.

She entered the slam poetry world and gained popularity for her work as a founding member of Slam Charlotte, NC. Like a hurricane Kendrea blew through poetry slam 2005-2013 winning or receiving top 5 ranking at Individual World Poetry Slam, National Poetry Slam, Women of the World Poetry Slam and Southern Fried Poetry Slam. This has lead to numerous tours, collaborations with bands, speaking engagements and teaching artist tours across the US and UK.  

She has released a collection of poetry The Beautiful Medusa,  an album Mekkahmorphasis. She has also contributed poems to a number of film and theatrical presentations. The most notable is the play "Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.) cowritten with her artistic family Concrete Generation. This interdisciplinary work has been produced by OnQ productions to sell out audiences across the US and UK and will be have a limited run in Booth Playhouse April 13-16 2023.
